From Brownfield Ag News: PAS PREPARING STUDENTS TO MEET AG LABOR DEFICIT

Mark Dorenkamp

The president of the National Professional Agricultural Student Organization says PAS is preparing young people to meet a deficit in ag labor.

Seth Browe is a college student from New York. “What PAS aims to do is to help build college ag students in sharpening their skills so that they’re more competitive and more ready for the workplace.” He tells Brownfield PAS uses competitive-style learning and real-life applications to test the technical skills of members. “And doing it in a way that really tests and builds on their soft skills as well. We’re pumping out students that don’t just have book knowledge, they’re able to be leaders, team members, and really they’re just coming out ready for the workplace.”

PAS is one of 11 career and technical student organizations approved by the U.S. Department of Education to be an integral part of career and technical education.
